User Agreement for "Inks / 见字"

Welcome to "Inks" (hereinafter referred to as "this App"), an iOS application developed by indie developer Wenpeng Wang (hereinafter referred to as "we" or "Developer"). Please read the following terms carefully before using this App. By using this App, you agree to be bound by this Agreement.

1. Service Content

1. "Inks" is an application focused on providing private, localized writing and recording services.

2. Core features include but are not limited to: creating, editing, and managing letters/notes; using stationery and layout aesthetics; local encrypted storage, etc. The first letter can be written without signing in. Creating new letters afterward requires signing in to a cloud account.

3. This App adopts a "Local First" strategy. Your letter body is stored on this device by default. The first letter, local browsing and replay, import/export, and other basic experiences can be completed without signing in. Creating new letters afterward requires signing in to a cloud account. The current version does not provide iCloud sync and does not automatically upload letter content as a cloud backup.

4. This App provides Apple sign-in, cloud account profile, avatar, custom stickers and other cloud-connected custom resources, badges, entitlement restoration, purchase verification, device authorization, and related cloud account features. These features process necessary data only when you actively use the corresponding feature.

5. This App provides an entry for statistical data rights requests (export/delete). You can submit a request in the Settings page; the system will create a ticket and enter the processing flow.

2. User Conduct

You agree to abide by laws and regulations when using this App, and MUST NOT use this App to:

1. Produce, copy, publish, or disseminate information containing content that violates laws and regulations, endangers national security, is obscene, pornographic, violent, or terroristic.

2. Interfere with the normal operation of this App, including but not limited to reverse engineering, decompiling, attacking servers (if any), etc.

3. Use this App to infringe upon others' intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other legitimate rights and interests.

3. Data & Privacy

1. Your privacy is critical to us. Regarding how we collect, use, and protect your information, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

2. You understand and agree that due to the local storage mode adopted by this App, if you delete this App, reset the device, or the device is damaged, your data may be permanently lost. We strongly recommend that you regularly back up important data yourself (e.g., via iOS system-level backup). We are not responsible for data loss caused by the device itself.

3. When you submit a statistical data export/deletion request, you need to provide an email address that can receive notifications. This email is used only for communication regarding request processing and result notification.

4. You understand and agree that: statistical data export/deletion requests may adopt a ticket + manual processing model. The completion time is affected by the volume of requests, platform processing capacity, and legal requirements.

5. You understand and agree that analytics data selects a processing link according to runtime environment or device/system region. Mainland China runtime environments use AnalyticsHub, while non-Mainland China runtime environments may use PostHog Cloud. Relevant data processing rules, cross-border transfer descriptions, and rights paths are subject to the Privacy Policy.

6. You understand and agree that cloud account profiles, avatars, custom stickers and other cloud-connected custom resources, badges, entitlements, purchase verification, and device authorization data will be processed through the developer's self-hosted cloud services when you actively use the corresponding features. Letter bodies, attachments, and letter resources are not automatically synced to the cloud by default.

7. If you delete your cloud account in the App or request processing of cloud account-related personal data, we will handle it according to the path listed in the Privacy Policy. This operation does not automatically cancel App Store subscriptions and does not affect Apple retaining transaction, refund, or payment records according to its rules.

4. Intellectual Property

1. Developer Rights: The intellectual property rights of this App's design, source code, icons, interface design, text layout algorithms, original stationery, and illustrations (excluding user-created content) belong to the Developer and are protected by copyright law.

2. User Rights: The copyright of letter texts created and images imported by you within the App belongs to you.

5. Paid Services (In-App Purchase)

1. This App may contain In-App Purchase items, such as Lifetime, Founder Edition, Inks Pass subscriptions, or Lifetime-user exclusive subscriptions.

2. All payments are processed through the Apple App Store and are subject to Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

3. Refund Policy: Since we cannot directly manage your payments, if you need a refund, please apply directly to Apple. The refund result is determined by Apple.

4. Inks Pass and Lifetime Exclusive subscriptions automatically renew according to App Store rules. You can cancel them in your Apple account subscription management. After cancellation, you may continue using the corresponding subscription benefits during the current subscription period according to Apple's status; after expiry, the corresponding subscription benefits will stop.

6. Disclaimer

1. This App is provided "AS IS". We do not guarantee that the service will meet all your requirements, nor do we guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

2. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages (including but not limited to data loss, loss of profits) caused by the use or inability to use this App.

3. We are not liable for service interruption or data loss caused by force majeure (such as natural disasters, government actions, hacker attacks, telecommunication failures, etc.).

7. Modification of Agreement

We reserve the right to modify this agreement at any time. The modified agreement will be published in the App or notified through App Store update descriptions. Continued use of this App is deemed as your acceptance of the modified agreement.

8. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China. In case of dispute, both parties shall negotiate amicably; if negotiation fails, it shall be submitted to the People's Court with jurisdiction in the developer's location for litigation.
